Basics of Tier 1 Post Study Work and Tier 2 UK Work Permit

When planning to move to UK whether it’s for work, study or to live there, it is important that you are aware of the basic immigration set up that it has. Basically, UK immigration has a point based system that is composed of 5 Tiers each with different classifications mostly involving occupancy. Tier 1 and Tier 2 are the categories that applicants really have to be familiar with because they are usually the categories that most people fall under.

Tier 1 Post study work is for people who are interested in working in UK but still do not have a job offer yet. In getting a Tier 1 visa UK, you can apply for the visa right now and fill up an application and once you are already able to land a job in UK, you may already use your visa. Once you are granted with a Tier 1 visa UK, you will be given up to two years to work but if your career expands and works well you may apply for another three years extension. However, Tier 1 visas can take a lengthy process because it has several factors to consider such as your age, how well versed you are in English, your experience, business qualifications, earnings and cash reserves.

Tier 2 on the other hand, are for people who are skilled workers such as nurses, doctors, accountants, etc. A tier 2 UK work permit are given to people who are able to provide the service that is scarce in the UK or are able to provide a better quality of service compared to an average UK citizen.
